Move-Up, pavilion

Pavilion, Trajectoire Studio, Paris 11e, France 2019

Ephemeral shop and scenography of the installation by graphic designer Hadrien Lopez for the group exhibition TRAJECTOIRE – WHEN BASKETBALL INSPIRES at Garage Amelot, Paris 11th. The two projects, juxtaposed in the exhibition, are designed and self-constructed in collaboration with Julien Fajardo – Studio Sugar. The exhibition, initiated by the studio Trajectoire, brought together 25 contemporary artists around the theme of basketball. The boutique pavilion is inspired by a sequence that breaks down the phases of a basketball player’s movement. The juxtaposition of the gantries symbolizes the accelerating segments of the body during a swing before a shot. In the other dimension, the ends of the gantries follow the path of a basketball during a series of bounces. Located at the doors of the exhibition, the pavilion acts like a pantograph, it reverses and amplifies the movement of the balloon in space, it propels the visitor inside the place. Wood, a warm material, contrasts with the concrete of the site and reassures with its fragrant presence. The prefabricated project in the workshop in the sugarwork station was entirely self-built on site with the invaluable help of Vincent Bréfif, Rémy Claire, François Bénichou and Marie Levy.
